Purple Party

Jonanice turned 21 this month and she didn't have anything planned...so I decided to throw a girly movie afternoon for her...with all the trimmings of course!

I DESIGNED HER INVITATION, CAKE TOPPERS, DRINKS LABELS & NOTEBOOK

She didn't suspect a thing! We had so much, there was more than enough to go around, and to fill the goodie bags I made out of brown paper. I even managed to make some chocolate bars for the girls to go home with...I loved it, great practise for the baby shower Im hoping to do later this Spring.

Moving Spaces

I have decided to create a new blog pureply for my university work and ramblings.
This one started out to be for that purpose, but [AS YOU HAVE NO DOUBT NOTICED] has been taken over by my findings and has turned into more of an inspiration and crafty blog.

So...
All those who originally came here for uni biz please head over to Routine and Distraction.

And for all those loving the things I find and share here, expect more updates dedictaed to all things arts and crafts.

Art History

Found this poster by Vuk Vidor via Blue Pool Road blog.

Besides being clever, it reminded me of a shirt Nigel was wearing for his last lecture.

In Love

I love Paperchase.

New products available including some designs by Print & Pattern...63 pages of VERY well priced stationery loveliness.
When we go to London to visit the Decode exhibition at the V&A, we WILL go to the flagstore. It's huge, with it's own cafe. What other stationers needs a cafe?

They seem to admire my love of kraft too as there is alot more available. [DIVIDERS, NOTEBOOKS AND PHOTO CORNERS]

Love Day

Happy [EARLY] Valentine's Day!

I managed to sneak in wrapping his gift while he was out getting a much needed haircut. Im not the soppy-kisses-lovey-dovey-type, but I do like some nice brown paper wrap. I thought he'd appreciate the black detail over a more 'traditional' red.

Brown paper has always been a love of mine, and it annoys me that supplies are much easier to get hold of in USA than here. Perhaps this will be a good thing that the 'scrapbooking trend' will bring with it.

Spring Surface 2011

As promised here are the designs I submitted to the Tigerprint Spring Surface Pattern competition. I loved how they came out [I UPLOADED THE WRONG SIZES HERE WILL EDIT WHEN I GET TO PC], and although they're not as illustrated as some of the other entries I'm happy that they all work together aswell. I'm a big fan of mix n' match wrapping =]

I also did the set in another colour scheme...I got a bit carried away, with a total of TWENTY FIVE other variations. Here are some of my favs.

TURQUOISE PINK CHAMPAGNE TUSCANY - PANTONE

I think I may have to make a notebook with these last two patterns, they remind me of Scandinavian wool knits, and Christmas...for some reason.

True Colour

Im a sucker for a quiz.
This one was found via amelieshouse and determines your color [WELL IT IS AMERICAN]

HANDMADE BY PSPAPERGOODS

Yeah, Im yellow. Happy colour whoo.

"You are quite the powerful thinker. It’s this talent that allows you to overcome a plethora of great obstacles. Luckily, this doesn’t affect your ego and you give off a pretty easy-going appearance. You enjoy the finer things in life and also have an attraction to art. If you can help it, you try not to rock the boat. But you also can’t stop yourself from searching for new ideas, methods or styles. "

Does that sound like me do you think?

Tigerprint Compettition II

All the entries are in! [MINE INLCUDED]
I loved doing this one...surface pattern is me all over! This one called for some research into future trends, which is something I haven't really thought about before, but the resources are out there and I may dip into these places when creating original works. Think about it...you have to work ahead of the current times or else it'll be outdated by the time you go to print.

Here are some of my favourites from the entries, mine will be up later tonight.

Almost ready to start

It's my last week of my holiday [*AHEM* INTER SEMESTER BREAK] and I am more than ready to start the next half of the year. Grades are in, and I'm very pleased with myself...considering the rushing around, late nights/early mornings to get done!
I feel like I am definately doing something right, and I'm doing well at it.

Just finished the last batch of private work for Southern Cement, so hopefully the bag designs will go into production soon.

Tigerprint has another competition on the cards, so I've been doodling away and have some ideas ready to vector...deadline is the 11th Feb for anyone who wants to enter here.

Made my first sketchbook with my lovely new stapler for our 'homework'...although I think I used too many pages and the staples aren't staying put! Lesson learned. I'm hoping to sell them, but I think I'll work on the blog before heading over to Etsy.

I can finally post up some images of MY art and turn this into a real art blog!
